Sexual harassment in the workplace

A student radiographer reflects on her experiences during two clinical placements

Sexual harassment can be defined as "any unwanted sexual behaviour that makes someone feel upset, scared, offended or humiliated1." In the UK workplace, 45% of employees have been victims of sexual harassment2. Most workplace sexual harassment goes unnoticed or unreported3 and it is imperative that sexual harassment is taken seriously and that policies are set up for individuals who have been victimised.

My personal reflection will examine how sexual harassment impacts clinical practitioners. I believe that educating others about inappropriate conduct can create a safe working environment for all. Therefore, I will use the Gibbs Cycle of Reflection4 to break down and evaluate my personal experience of sexual harassment while on clinical placement.
