One in two people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime. Statistics from Cancer Research UK (CRUK) state that between 2015 and 2017 there were around 367,000 new cancer cases in the UK every year, or about 1,000 every day1. Due to a growing and ageing population, the number of cancer cases is projected to rise by more than 40% to around 514,000 new cases per year in 20352. This could place further burden upon an already stretched healthcare system.
