The delegation of clinical reporting activities to appropriately trained radiographers has been shown to be a safe, effective and efficient method to increase reporting capacity1-5. It is incumbent upon all reporting radiographers to engage with governance of the reporting service to assure patient safety6-8. To maintain competence in clinical reporting, radiographers must undertake an appropriate volume and frequency of reports covering the full range of examinations within their scope of practice6, 8. There is a positive association between the annual volume of cases reported and accuracy8, 9.
Furthermore, peer review of a small percentage of the reporting caseload is recommended to reporting radiographers as a method of assessing their own individual performance, to guide continued professional development and to substantiate the safety of the service as a whole6-8.
