With the increasing demand on the NHS workforce, many healthcare professionals are reporting burnout and stress. The NHS Staff Survey1 reported 41.7% of staff felt unwell as a result of work-related stress in the past 12 months. Historically, this has been a problem, with 56,000 people leaving NHS employment between 2011 and 2018 due to poor work-life balance2.
Radiographers are among the health professionals affected by these pressures (made worse by a national staff shortage) and the increasing demands for imaging and out-of-hours working, resulting in stress, burnout and reduced job satisfaction for radiographers3.
