Radiographers are expected to understand and engage in research activities and to adopt evidence based practice, that is, using the highest quality research evidence available to inform practice so that patients receive the best service and healthcare outcomes1. The Health and Care Professions Council’s Standards of Proficiency – Radiographers state that radiographers must be able to engage in evidence-based practice and evaluate research2. For radiographers working at advanced practice/consultant level, research is recognised as one of the four pillars that underpin practice3.
