Why I chose this topic: Over the course of three years, I have not only observed but experienced at first hand the potential effects that clinical experiences can have on students such as myself and my peers. Quite often, existing research tends to focus on student experiences in higher-profile modalities or degrees involving larger student cohorts, such as medicine and nursing. I chose to focus on interventional radiology, a multi-disciplinary specialty that is currently facing increasing pressures. It is hoped that the information gathered in this research will aid staff in understanding the importance of clinical education – and also reveal how low-profile specialties, such as interventional radiology, can be improved and promoted as career options.
