Why I chose this topic: Breast cancer is a global health concern, and improved outcomes can result from the early detection of cancer through regular breast screening. During my second-year placement in the mammography department, I noticed that few Muslim women attend breast screening appointments. Being Muslim myself, I understand that there are certain barriers that can deter some Muslim women from attending breast screening. Through my research, I have strived to highlight these barriers. Completing this research has enabled me to acknowledge the importance of encouraging women in this patient group to attend early breast screening appointments.
