Bladder lesions during pregnancy are a rare finding with few cases published. The incidence of a bladder lesion during pregnancy has been reported as 0.0013%1. It is important to establish the nature of a lesion because cancer during pregnancy is rare but responsible for 1:1000 deaths of women of childbearing age2.
The origin of a lesion is highly significant, and will establish further investigations and monitoring for both mother and fetus. Interprofessional teamwork is of the utmost importance to plan a safe delivery and give optimal effective management.
This case highlights the value of transabdominal scans in gynaecology examinations for detecting incidental findings, and illustrates how multiple imaging modalities can contribute to diagnosis and monitoring of pathology.
